The focus for Term 3 is Mathematics to ensure students meet Year 3 standards.
Revise reading, writing, ordering, comparing and expanding 3 and 4 digit numbers.
Practice adding 2 and 3 digit numbers with and without regrouping/trading.

Weeks 2 - 3 Naplan Reading and Numeracy Practice with 2013 paper
Week 4 Naplan Tests so explored the Maths and Spelling, Phonics apps and sites on the iPads and LA 27 Class webpage
accessed from the Landsdale Primary School website.
Week 5 Write for 7 minutes on the topic ' My Favourite Leisure Activity'
Count how many words you wrote and divide by 7 to get your average words written per minute (to improve writing
quantity)
Count how many joining words you used - highlight these to see if they were different or the same
Count how many types of punctuation you used (basic is capitals at the start and full stops at the end of sentences)
and capitals for proper nouns.
Try to increase the range of punctuation marks to include brackets (for extra details); apostrophes for
contractions such as didn't, haven't and commas for lists.
Set a goal to improve your Writing of Basic sentences with:
one idea;
capitals for the start and proper nouns;
full stops at the end of the sentence
use joining words (conjunctions) such as and, but, because, if, so, for, or, although,
meanwhile, while, to join two ideas or simple sentences. Joining words don't start with a capital letter unless they are
at the start of a sentence such as:
Although I worked hard, I didn't finish my story.
I didn't finish my story although I worked hard.
I worked hard but didn't finish my story.
use stronger vocabulary and
increase the range of punctuation marks we used.
Week 6 Writing - continue basic simple and compound sentence construction as above and increase number of words
written in 7 minutes.
Numeracy - reading and writing numbers up to 4 digits (Year 3) and 6 digits (Year 5); putting numbers in ascending
and descending order, counting forwards and backwards in 1, 2, 5, 10.
